The Tánaiste acknowledged the positive contribution made by successive generations of Irish immigrants in New York and thanked the mayor for hosting the reception, which recognizes the interwoven history of New York and Ireland.

The Tánaiste also talked about the upcoming 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement and how America’s support for peace on the island of Ireland was critical in reaching that agreement. He mentioned that peace is a way to bring prosperity to everyone and that the Irish heritage teaches us to never do anything that’s going to embarrass the family name. He urged everyone to instill that spirit and energy again, reminding them that every action they take should be done with the understanding that they’re carrying the rich tradition and legacy of their family name.

Overall, the St. Patrick’s Day Breakfast Reception was a celebration of Irish heritage and culture, as well as a reminder of the strong bond between New York and Ireland.
