Bronx community resources · Sources reviewed October 26, 2026
Nine resources for child care assistance, Pre-K, developmental referrals, school enrollment and neighborhood family support. This is a selected Bronx guide, not a complete list of schools, child care providers or family centers.
Choose the right route: ACS answers voucher questions; NYC Public Schools handles school enrollment; Early Intervention evaluates developmental concerns for children under three. Family Enrichment Centers offer community activities and connections to resources.
Child care, development and school enrollment
1. ACS child care voucher questions and financial assistance
Citywide assistance for eligible Bronx families
212-835-7610
Shared ACS child care contact. NYC311 currently states that families not receiving Cash Assistance who meet voucher criteria are placed on a waitlist because of insufficient funding; an application does not guarantee an immediate voucher. Families receiving Cash Assistance should apply through HRA. Ask which route fits your household and check your MyCity application status.
2. NYC Public Schools — Pre-K admissions and program search
Citywide enrollment support; search for Bronx programs in MySchools
718-935-2009
Shared enrollment line, with interpretation available. Children born in 2022 are the Pre-K cohort for 2026–2027. For fall 2027, the published application window for children born in 2023 is January 13–February 26, 2027, subject to change. Ask about current seats, waitlists and the eligibility rules for extended-day or year-round care. Enrollment options depend on the school year and seat type.
3. Early Intervention — developmental evaluation and referral
Citywide referral route for Bronx children under age three
311
Ask for Early Intervention or use the city’s referral portal. Families can request an evaluation when they have concerns about a young child’s development. Evaluation determines eligibility; not every referred child qualifies. The program is voluntary and provided at no direct cost to eligible families.
4. Fordham Family Welcome Center
1 Fordham Plaza, 7th Floor, Bronx, NY 10458
718-329-8050
NYCPS lists this location for districts 7, 9 and 10. Get help with specified enrollment, transfer or MySchools needs. Schedule a virtual or in-person visit and confirm required documents. If your child has a zoned elementary or middle school, contact that school directly for enrollment.
5. Zerega Family Welcome Center
1230 Zerega Avenue, Room 24, Bronx, NY 10462
718-828-7546
NYCPS lists this location for districts 8, 11 and 12. Arrange help for eligible enrollment, transfer or MySchools questions. For difficulty finding a suitable appointment, the shared NYCPS appointment-assistance number is 718-935-2828.
Neighborhood Family Enrichment Centers
ACS describes FEC participation as free and voluntary, with no referral, appointment or eligibility screening required. Check each center’s hours and activity calendar; available supplies vary.
6. Bronx H.Y.P.E. Family Enrichment Center
109 Bruckner Boulevard, Bronx, NY 10454
347-483-9463
Mott Haven/Melrose family and community space operated by REM Center. ACS lists this center contact. Ask about current activities, hours and resources. The separate office at 111 Bruckner Boulevard is not the activity address listed here.
7. O.U.R. Place Family Enrichment Center
940 Garrison Avenue, Bronx, NY 10474
718-618-5559
Operated by Graham Windham for the Hunts Point/Longwood community. ACS lists this address and center contact. Confirm opening hours and the current activity schedule before traveling.
8. Circle of Dreams Family Enrichment Center
266 East 165th Street, Bronx, NY 10456
917-945-1152
Highbridge community space operated by Bridge Builders. The center describes free workshops, support groups and social activities. The ACS listing supplies this center contact; ask about the current calendar. The operator identifies the entrance by its red door.
9. Uptown Family Enrichment Center
3535 Holland Avenue, Bronx, NY 10467
718-508-3077
Operated by BronxWorks in Williamsbridge/Baychester. ACS lists this center contact and address. Ask about current family activities, resources and opening hours.
Before you visit or apply
Confirm the child’s age and school year, your program eligibility, available seats and required documents. A voucher waitlist, a school waitlist and a family-center activity are separate processes. For school enrollment, confirm whether you should contact the zoned school directly or book a Family Welcome Center appointment. Ask about language assistance and accessible entrances.
Addresses, contact roles and published application information were checked against the linked official sources. Telephone numbers have not been tested by calling. Schedules, funding and availability may change. The family centers listed above are selected locations, not all Bronx FECs.
