Find 14 service routes for child care, school enrollment, developmental support and neighborhood family connections. The guide includes citywide programs serving Queens, three NYCPS Family Welcome Centers and seven community Family Enrichment Centers.
Choose the right kind of help
NYCPS Family Welcome Centers help with school enrollment. Community Family Enrichment Centers offer free, voluntary neighborhood activities and resource connections; they are different programs. ACS says FEC participation needs no referral or eligibility screening. Confirm opening hours and planned activities before visiting.
1. Child care financial assistance — ACS and NYC Public Schools
Contact: 212-835-7610 — ACS voucher help; CCapplication@schools.nyc.gov — NYCPS contracted-care applications.
Use MyCity to apply for child care financial assistance. The current city notice says new vouchers for families not receiving Cash Assistance are subject to a funding-related waitlist. Existing assistance and recertification follow separate rules. Contracted care and Head Start are other options, with eligibility and available seats to confirm. These are citywide contacts serving Queens, not a local child care center.
2. 3-K and Pre-K — current-year seats and fall 2027 planning
Contact: 718-935-2009 — shared NYCPS enrollment support; MySchools.
For 2026–27, children born in 2023 are the 3-K cohort and children born in 2022 are the Pre-K cohort. Ask about current placement and waitlists. For fall 2027, the published application window is January 13–February 26, 2027: children born in 2024 for 3-K and 2023 for Pre-K. Dates may change; check the official pages. Program hours and seat types differ.
3. 2-K — current Queens programs and announced expansion
Contact: 718-935-2009 — shared NYCPS enrollment support; official 2-K program finder.
The city launched 2-K in Queens District 27 for fall 2026. Ask about current availability; the original application period has ended. The October 19, 2026 announcement adds Queens Districts 24, 28 and 29 for fall 2027 and expands capacity in existing districts. This announcement does not establish an available seat today. Confirm age, seat type, location and the next application process with NYCPS.
4. Early Intervention — developmental concerns before age three
Contact: 311 — ask for Early Intervention, or use the referral portal linked on the official health page.
Families can request a free evaluation when concerned about a young child’s development. An evaluation determines eligibility; a referral is not a guarantee of services. For a child age two years and eleven months or older, NYC Health directs families to ask 311 about the Committee on Preschool Special Education.
5. Queens Plaza North Family Welcome Center — districts 24 and 30

Check before traveling
Published contacts were reviewed, but telephone numbers have not been tested by calling. Ask about current hours, language support, accessibility, appointments and available places. A directory entry does not guarantee a child care seat, voucher or service eligibility.
