NEW YORK. Buffalo Harbor State Park has opened a new round of waterfront improvements designed to make the Outer Harbor more useful for families and visitors. Governor Kathy Hochul announced the opening of a sprayground, buffalo art sculpture and fountain, enhanced accessible playground, cafe and retail space, public restrooms and park office.

Why it matters
The project matters beyond Buffalo because it is part of a statewide pattern: New York is using public waterfronts as civic infrastructure, tourism assets and quality-of-life investments at the same time.
For families, the sprayground and accessible playground are the most immediate upgrades. For local businesses and tourism operators, a more active waterfront can support longer visits, events and repeat summer traffic.
What to watch next
The Governor’s Office also released video, B-roll, audio and photos, making the project easy for residents to preview before visiting.
