Six selected routes to veteran and military-family support. Local VA care, Vet Center counseling, benefits claims and nonprofit referrals serve different needs and have different eligibility and appointment rules.
Services and contact routes
1. Brooklyn Vet Center — confidential counseling and referrals
111 Livingston Street, Suite 1910, Brooklyn, NY 11201-1954
718-630-2830
VA describes this as a non-medical setting offering confidential help at no cost for eligible Veterans, service members and families. Published hours: Monday–Friday 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m.; additional hours may vary. First-time visitors should call to discuss services and eligibility. This follows the current VA address, replacing older Chapel Street listings.
2. Brooklyn VA Medical Center
800 Poly Place, Brooklyn, NY 11209-7104
Use the official facility page to select the clinical service and its contact information. The campus is listed as operating 24/7, but individual clinics and services have their own hours. Confirm enrollment, appointments and any costs with VA; hospital operating hours do not mean every clinic offers round-the-clock walk-in visits.
3. VA health-care enrollment assistance
National application assistance by telephone; online, mail and in-person options
877-222-8387
VA’s application-assistance line is available Monday–Friday 8 a.m.–8 p.m. Eastern. The official instructions explain VA Form 10-10EZ and the information needed to apply. Enrollment and benefit eligibility depend on VA’s review; an application is separate from booking a medical appointment.
4. New York State Department of Veterans’ Services — claims help
Statewide benefits advising; arrange the appropriate office or remote consultation
888-838-7697
The state provides free benefits advising. Veterans Benefits Advisors can help gather documents, prepare and file claims, respond to requests and discuss appeals. Use the official office finder or book a phone/video consultation; confirm the location and appointment before visiting.
5. NYC Vallone Veteran Resource Center Initiative
Recurring office hours at participating City Council district offices
Accredited Veterans Service Officers provide no-cost help with claims and connections to benefits, housing, employment and other support. The city says dates and appointment requirements are maintained by individual Council offices and can change. Find your Brooklyn district through the official initiative page and contact that office; this is not one permanent borough-wide walk-in clinic.
6. BVSJ Veterans Service Center
665 Willoughby Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11206
718-852-6004
The nonprofit’s service page says all Veterans Service Center services are free and walk-ins are welcome Monday–Friday 8 a.m.–6 p.m. Support includes benefits counseling, health-care enrollment connections, housing referrals, employment resources and family support. Ask about the intake process and capacity for the particular program; a referral does not guarantee housing or a job.
Before you contact a service
Confirm whether the program serves your situation, whether an appointment is required and which documents to bring. Benefits advising, health-care enrollment, medical appointments and Vet Center counseling are separate processes. Keep original service documents secure and follow the receiving agency’s instructions for copies.
Addresses and contacts were checked against government and provider websites. Telephone numbers have not been tested by calling. This is a selected resource guide, not every veteran service in Brooklyn.
