Three Brooklyn SNAP centers and four routes to city benefit information and applications. These programs have different eligibility rules, intake processes and service locations. This guide explains where to start; HRA and the relevant program determine eligibility.
Centers and application routes
1. Coney Island SNAP Center
1912 Mermaid Avenue, first and second floors, Brooklyn, NY 11224
HRA lists regular hours as Monday–Friday 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m. This is a SNAP center; check the appropriate program’s location list for Cash Assistance, HEAP or other services. Confirm current opening information before travelling.
2. East New York SNAP Center
2400 Fulton Street, third and fourth floors, Brooklyn, NY 11233
HRA lists regular hours as Monday–Friday 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m. Use the official SNAP information page for application options and case instructions. A visit to a center is not a guarantee of benefit eligibility or approval.
3. Williamsburg SNAP Center
2 George Street, first floor, Brooklyn, NY 11206
HRA lists regular hours as Monday–Friday 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m. Check the current location list for any changes. Do not assume that another program’s interview or appointment can be completed at this SNAP-only service location.
4. SNAP applications and case management
Online through ACCESS HRA; SNAP centers for in-person service
HRA directs applicants to ACCESS HRA to apply for SNAP or manage an existing case. Follow the application, document and interview instructions provided for your case. Current work requirements and exemptions can affect some applicants; consult HRA’s current guidance rather than relying on older eligibility information.
5. Cash Assistance and emergency help
ACCESS HRA and HRA Benefits Access Centers
718-557-1399
DSS OneNumber for information about emergency assistance. HRA accepts Cash Assistance and emergency-assistance applications through ACCESS HRA or a Benefits Access Center. A One Shot Deal requires an interview and may have repayment requirements; it is not an automatic grant. After an online Cash Assistance application or recertification, HRA lists 929-273-1872 for the on-demand interview, Monday–Friday 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m. Follow your own notices and document requests.
6. HEAP — seasonal heating and energy assistance
ACCESS HRA, designated HEAP offices or mail, depending on the component
As of this guide’s October 27, 2026 review, HRA says the 2026–2027 Regular HEAP benefit is scheduled to open November 2, 2026. It is not yet listed as open for this season. HEAP has separate seasonal components with different availability and rules. Check the official page before applying; approval depends on program eligibility, documentation and availability.
7. Fair Fares NYC — transportation assistance
Official eligibility checker and ACCESS HRA application
311
Fair Fares is a separate city transportation-assistance program. The official checker asks about NYC residency, age 18–64 and household income, along with the type of transportation discount requested. Use its current income table and full eligibility questions before applying. Call 311 or use the official site for help; receiving another benefit does not by itself establish Fair Fares eligibility.
Prepare for an application
Use your official case notices for deadlines, interviews and document requests. Keep copies of what you submit and check your case status. Confirm the correct center for your program before visiting; SNAP centers and Benefits Access Centers are different service categories.
Upcoming change: HRA’s current Cash Assistance page announces that Medicaid management will be separated from Cash Assistance starting January 1, 2027. If your coverage is linked to Cash Assistance, follow HRA’s current notice and instructions for your case.
