Car Slams into Chabad-Lubavitch Headquarters in Brooklyn; Driver in Custody
Brooklyn, NY – A man has been taken into custody after intentionally crashing a gray Hyundai into the Chabad-Lubavitch Headquarters in Crown Heights . The incident, which occurred around 8:50 PM, involved the driver repeatedly ramming the vehicle into the building’s side entrance . Police quickly responded, securing the area and taping off several blocks . Authorities confirmed the driver is now in custody at the 71st Precinct, where he is being questioned .
A Night of Commemoration Turns Chaotic At the time of the crash, thousands of individuals were inside the synagogue (2:30). Many were young visitors from around the world, gathered to commemorate the anniversary of the previous Rebbe’s passing . Witnesses reported hearing the driver screaming and cursing during the attack , although it is still being investigated whether the language used was racially charged . This incident comes shortly after another antisemitic attack in Forest Hills, Queens, where a rabbi was assaulted amidst anti-Semitic slurs.
Authorities continue to investigate the motive behind the Brooklyn crash.
