Washington, , A Nation That’s Safe Far Left Democrat Governor of New York Kathy Hochul is finally admitting that America has a border crisis. This comes after years of Hochul supporting radical “Sanctuary State” policies, which have only worsened Joe Biden’s border crisis by incentivizing illegal immigration. If Extreme Democrats like Hochul were serious about addressing the Biden border crisis, then they would fully support House Republicans’ Secure the Border Act of 2023.
MAKE NO MISTAKE: House Republicans are the only ones who have passed legislation that would end the Biden border crisis. The Secure the Border Act of 2023 is the strongest border security bill in history, and we are working on ensuring its priorities are funded while reining in Biden and Extreme Democrats’ reckless spending.
BIDEN’S BORDER CRISIS BY THE NUMBERS: Since Joe Biden took office: There have been OVER 6 MILLION illegal crossings of our southern border. In August there were 232,972 illegal immigrants encountered at the Southern Border. This is a 27% increase from July. August was the 30th straight month, where monthly illegal immigrant encounters have been higher than even the highest month seen under President Trump. CBP has seized 25,591 pounds of fentanyl so far in FY23.Already in FY23, fentanyl seizures have greatly surpassed the FY22 seizure total by over 10,000 pounds.151 people whose names appear on the terrorist watchlist were stopped trying to cross the Southern Border, an all time record.
This total is more than the encounters in all FY17, FY18, FY19 and FY20 combined. There were 98 terror watchlist arrests in all of FY22, which was the previous all time record. In August, we discovered that a smuggler with ties to ISIS helped migrants enter the United States from Mexico. Cartels are now making $13 billion a year smuggling illegal immigrants into the United States. Biden’s Far Left open border policies are to blame for this historic crisis. During Biden’s first 100 days in office, he took 94 executive actions on immigration, including halting the construction of the border wall. In August 2022, Biden and his Administration decided to make the border crisis WORSE by formally ending former President Trump’s successful ‘Remain in Mexico’ program. The Biden Administration announced on May 10, 2023, that it would allow for the release of some migrants into the U.S. with no way to track them. Biden’s Department of Homeland Security has now admitted that 40 percent of catch-and-release migrants have disappeared. Despite this historic crisis Joe Biden has only visited the southern border ONCE, and it was widely panned as nothing more than a photo-op.
FACTS ABOUT THE SECURE THE BORDER ACT OF 2023: Force the Biden Administration to restart construction of the border wall. Deploy technology to the Southern and Northern border. Increase the number of Border Patrol agents and provide bonus pay. Require transparency regarding illegal crossings from the Department of Homeland Security. Strengthen current law to protect unaccompanied children from human trafficking. End catch and release. End abuse of executive immigration authority. Strengthen and streamline the asylum process.
