Three selected Queens Public Library branches and three routes to practical library services. This is a starting selection, not a complete borough directory. Regular hours below can change for holidays, renovations or events.
Branches and practical library services
1. Central Library — Jamaica
89-11 Merrick Boulevard, Jamaica, NY 11432
718-990-0700
Published regular hours: Monday–Thursday 10 a.m.–8 p.m.; Friday 10 a.m.–6 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m.–5 p.m.; Sunday noon–5 p.m. Use QPL’s location finder for current hours and alerts, and the branch page for its program calendar. Class and service appointments can have separate schedules.
2. Flushing Library
41-17 Main Street, Flushing, NY 11355
718-661-1200
Published regular hours: Monday–Thursday 10 a.m.–8 p.m.; Friday 10 a.m.–6 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m.–5 p.m.; Sunday noon–5 p.m. QPL identifies the branch as wheelchair accessible and lists a 24/7 materials drop-off. The location offers Wi-Fi, computer workstations, programs and adult-learning resources. Check current alerts before travelling.
3. Long Island City Library
37-44 21 Street, Long Island City, NY 11101
718-752-3700
Published regular hours: Monday, Wednesday and Friday 10 a.m.–6 p.m.; Tuesday 1–6 p.m.; Thursday noon–8 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m.–5 p.m.; Sunday closed. The branch offers Wi-Fi, computer workstations, classes and access to its Adult Learning Center. This is the Long Island City branch, distinct from Hunters Point and the future Court Square location.
4. Getting a QPL library card
Apply through QPL or visit a Queens Public Library branch
718-990-0700
QPL’s FAQ says a free library card is available to people who live, work, attend school or own property in New York State. For an in-person application, bring accepted proof of identity and address. Children 11 and younger need permission signed by a parent or guardian at the same address; applicants 12 and older can register online. eCards and regular cards have different borrowing features; check the official comparison and current requirements.
5. Computers, Wi-Fi and remote printing
Check the chosen branch for equipment and print pickup
Flushing and Long Island City list free Wi-Fi and computer workstations. QPL’s remote-printing service requires a library card and accepts up to 30 black-and-white letter-size pages per day. The published instructions say documents are available within two days of upload and held for seven days; bring ID for pickup. Contact the branch about multiple copies, special requests, charges and equipment access. Do not assume remote printing is an immediate same-day service.
6. Job & Business Academy — career and technology learning
Central: 89-11 Merrick Boulevard; Flushing: 41-17 Main Street, third floor
718-990-8625
QPL offers job-search and business workshops, individual counseling and technology learning. The Central Job & Business Academy contact is listed above; the Flushing program contact is 718-661-1205. Technology topics include computer basics and Microsoft Office. Call the relevant program to register or arrange an appointment and confirm the current location, language and schedule. These are services within library buildings, not additional branches.
Plan your visit and check closures
Use QPL’s official location finder to check your branch before travelling. For example, Astoria Library is currently listed as closed for renovations, with Monday mobile-library service except holidays; it should not be treated as an open indoor branch. Confirm current alerts, accessibility arrangements, fees and program registration directly with QPL.
