Three selected Brooklyn Public Library branches and three routes to library services. This is a starting selection, not a complete list of Brooklyn libraries. Hours below are the regular hours published when checked; holidays, renovations and events can change access.
Branches and practical library services
1. Central Library
10 Grand Army Plaza, Brooklyn, NY 11238
718-230-2100
Published hours: Monday–Thursday 9 a.m.–8 p.m.; Friday–Saturday 9 a.m.–6 p.m.; Sunday 1–5 p.m. BPL identifies the building as fully accessible. Central includes study and research resources, the Information Commons and the Business & Career Center. Check the branch page for renovations, holiday closures and alternate event hours.
2. Kings Highway Library
2115 Ocean Avenue, near Kings Highway, Brooklyn, NY 11229
718-375-3037

Check its calendar for current learning and family programs. Passport services have a separate schedule and contact; library opening hours do not establish passport appointment availability.
3. Bay Ridge Library
7223 Ridge Boulevard at 73rd Street, Brooklyn, NY 11209
718-748-5709
Published hours: Monday, Wednesday and Friday 10 a.m.–6 p.m.; Tuesday 1–8 p.m.; Thursday 10 a.m.–8 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m.–5 p.m.; Sunday 1–5 p.m. BPL lists the branch as fully accessible. The branch provides collections and programs for different ages. Meeting rooms and notary services require checking their separate reservation policies and availability.
4. Library cards and borrowing
Online information and applications; full-access verification at a BPL branch
BPL library cards are free. To obtain a full-access card, visit a branch with acceptable identification. An online Welcome Card provides digital services and limited physical borrowing; the current policy requires applicants to be located in New York State and to enable browser location sharing for the application. Review BPL’s current card and ID rules before applying.
5. Computers, Wi-Fi and printing
Available services vary by branch and equipment
BPL provides public computers at open branches and free Wi-Fi. Its technology page states that technology access generally requires a library card unless otherwise noted, and desktop sessions are limited to 30 minutes. Printing and copying are paid: the listed rates are $0.10 per side for black and white and $0.50 per side for color. Selected libraries also lend laptops for use in the library under separate age, card and time-limit rules.
6. Business & Career Center — job and business learning
Central Library, second floor, 10 Grand Army Plaza, Brooklyn, NY 11238
718-968-7275
Call the published assistance line and ask for the Business and Career Center. Services include career and resume resources, business research, workshops and staff assistance. The center also offers coworking space, card-based laptop loans and reservable rooms. Check each program for registration or appointment requirements; this is a service within Central Library, not a separate branch.
Find another branch or plan your visit
Use the official branch finder for libraries closer to your home. Confirm current opening hours, accessibility arrangements and registration for any class or appointment directly with BPL. A free library card does not make printing or every separate service free. Contacts were checked on the library’s official website; telephone numbers have not been tested by calling.
