For immigration legal referrals, call 800-354-0365. For general questions about city services for immigrants, call 212-788-7654. These are different services. The city legal hotline helps people find providers; it does not directly schedule legal appointments.

1. MOIA Immigration Legal Support Hotline

Phone: 800-354-0365, or call 311 and say “Immigration Legal.”

Free city-funded legal information and help finding an immigration legal services provider near your neighborhood and in your language. The provider determines eligibility and whether it can take a case. The hotline does not directly book legal appointments.

Brooklyn contact: 718-418-7690

The nonprofit lists immigration legal services, other community legal assistance, and adult English and citizenship classes. Intake, enrollment periods and waiting lists vary by program. 6. Brooklyn Public Library — Immigrant Services

Free programs and resources include citizenship preparation, English conversation, adult learning, job assistance and information about legal-help partners. Locations, registration and schedules vary. Check the library’s current program listings; library information and referrals are separate from legal representation.

Before contacting a provider

  • Ask whether the program is accepting new requests and whether an appointment is required.
