BRONX. NYC says the 140,000-square-foot Orchard Beach Pavilion has reopened after a $114 million reconstruction, restoring landmarked architecture and expanding accessibility at the Bronx’s only public beach. The city says the pavilion’s ground floor is open now, with concession spaces expected to reopen later this summer and a restaurant space planned for a later phase.

What changed

  • Accessibility: new ramps and beach-side access improvements.
  • Restrooms and public space: upgraded facilities and reopened balconies with beach views.
  • Preservation: structural and architectural repairs to roofs, columns, stone and tile elements.
