NEW YORK. A new affordable senior housing building has opened in Brooklyn’s East Flatbush: Bethany Senior Terraces, a $48 million development with 57 apartments reserved for older New Yorkers, including supportive homes for residents who need on-site services.
Why it matters
The state says the project replaced two long-vacant buildings formerly used by the Bethany Methodist Home for the Aged, and was developed by RiseBoro Community Partnership Inc.
For Brooklyn families, the significance is added senior housing capacity tied to supportive services and “aging in place” design — an increasingly urgent need as housing costs rise.
What to watch next
The building is also described as all-electric and designed to meet high efficiency standards, aligning affordability goals with lower energy use over time.
