Kathy Wylde, one of New York City’s most influential figures, has retired from her position as CEO of the Partnership for New York City, a business advocacy group.
Over several decades, Wylde has been a crucial connection for every governor and mayor since the 1980s, possessing the ear of the city’s wealthiest and most powerful individuals.
She identified Zaran Mdani’s talent early on, even before his primary and general election wins, and served as a key link between him and the business community.
Additionally, she was influential in developing Governor Kathy Hochul’s universal child care program. Surprisingly, Wylde began her career as a community organizer at a struggling hospital in Brooklyn, the Lutheran Medical Center, a far cry from her later role as a prominent connector among the city’s elite.
Her retirement party, held at the iconic Rainbow Room atop Rockefeller Center, was attended by many of New York City’s most wealthy and powerful individuals. Her successor is Steve Fulop, the former Democratic mayor of Jersey City.
